Child adolence and development - Research Paper Example In my days as a child, I was carefree with no worries at all. I would wander like a deer upon the open fields. I enjoyed various natural beauties in the gardens together with my other friends. The days gone are gone forever. What I have are only memories that remain in my mind. I also got several memories of my childhood life. The memories present the sweetest time of my mind. My childhood memories are indeed sweet. No one can forget his/her childhood experiences whether painful or pleasant. I still remember my childhood life very well. I was born in the suburbs of Illinois where I spent my childhood. My father was employed by the government. Home was a simple house where we lived happily together with my parents, sisters and brothers. That is not all; there was another family member. That is my grandmother. She was humble and affectionate. I remember her trying to teach me recite some sayings and quotes. That was at an early age and my mind weak to capture them, speaking was still difficult task. She showed love to me most than other family members. The memories are bitter for I lost her a few years ago. Am lucky for my parents are still alive up to today. Both mum and dad have been by best teachers in language. They taught me how to pronounce simple words like ââ¬Å"noâ⬠, ââ¬Å"yesâ⬠, ââ¬Å"comeâ⬠, and ââ¬Å"goâ⬠. There was a ground in front of our house. Paddy and other crops had grown in the ground. The beautiful golden color of the paddy field attracted me a lot. Every afternoon, I walked to the playground through the paddy field. The paddy plants always touched me. I got mixed up in the midst of the beauty of nature. I loudly named each flower as I went by playing. Though the names hardly meant anything, but at least I was better than

Hospital Administration Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Hospital Administration - Essay Example One of the main differences between a profit and non-profit company is that a non-profit company is not allowed to issue stocks or pay dividends. They also are not allowed to enrich the people on the Board of Directors. Non-Profit organizations are also allowed to apply for tax exempt status, which levies all taxes from the organization. This makes it easier for some non-profit organization to collect donations as well, as it allows donors to claim back any donations on income tax forms. The non-profit organization I have picked is St. John's Mercy Hospital, Washington. This hospital offers comprehensive faculties for various field included medicine, surgery, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, all well working under their no profit headline. The facility is able to offer inpatient, outpatient and critical care services, all without making a profit for themselves. More than 150, 000 people benefit from St. John's Mercy Hospital. More than 1000 healthcare workers including 150 physicians function in the hospital. For about half a decade, this hospital has been within the top 100 hospitals in the US. On about 57 hospitals in the US have been able to stay in the top 100-status for 5 years. In the year 2005, the hospital was presented with a prestigious quality award as the 'Primaris Hospital Quality Award'. This award means that the hospital is ensuring high performance and committed to bringing about quality care in the state of Missouri. This award is a testament to the quality of care that is offered at St. John's, and even though it is a non-profit hospital it is still able to offer the best services out of almost anywhere in the United States. St. John's Hospital is really supported by the St. John's Mercy Foundation, which is a not-for-profit organization led by a volunteer board or local leaders and community members. The Foundations Web Site claims that "Your support of the Foundation will help St. John's Mercy Hospital continue to fulfill the promise of our mission as a not-for-profit health care organization to serve our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and provide for those unable to pay for care and those in need of services not provided elsewhere in our region. The Foundation is dedicated to helping St. John's Mercy Hospital remain a leading edge health care facility and ensuring our communities have access to vital health care resources. With your support, the Foundation will help St. John's Mercy Hospital to fund new health care services, equipment, community outreach programs, and care for the indigent. Every donation to the St. John's Mercy Hospital Foundation makes a lasting contribution to our community. Your contributions ensure quality health care for those who seek care at St. John's Mercy Hospital today, tomorrow and always"(St. John's Mercy Foundation). The Foundation's Website offers no information regarding what it does with excess funds, or how much annual income it makes, but it does include much more important numbers; how many people the organization helps. This is perhaps the most important thing to judge a non-profit by, as it shows how effectively they manage their money, how well they spend it, and how well they are able to help the public.

Havisham - Essay Example After things went sour with her marriage, she resulted to mere wish and prayer that her dear would die. ââ¬Å"Not a day since then, I havenââ¬â¢t wished him deadâ⬠(Duffy web). The word ââ¬Å"deadâ⬠represents dark imagery of Havishamââ¬â¢s desire to revenge her husbandââ¬â¢s betrayal. Havisham also turns into prayer closing her eyes so tight making them sink inside and become like green pebble. In addition, she holds her hands so tightly together in prayer that they have formed sinews the size of a rope, which she virtualizes using to strangle her lover. Ropes on the back of my hands is metaphorical representing old age in that Havisham has allowed herself to stay with the grieve, anger, and poor emotions for many years, which has left her ageing. African Masks in Pablo Picasso's Art - Essay Example The paper "African Masks in Pablo Picasso's Art" explores the role of African art in Pablo Picasso's art and in the culture of the whole world. The history of African masks dates back to before the Paleolithic era. A major feature used by the Africans to represent culture was through the use of masks in ceremonies, feasts and rituals. Furthermore, the traditional African masks exemplified heroes, ancestors, spirits, codes of conduct and animals. Usually, the raw materials used to make the masks include wood, pottery, textile, bronze and copper. The substitute details in the masks would be made using sea shells, egg shells, animal feathers, horns, hair and bones. Because of the belief that the masks represented the spirits, the makers were regarded as superiors in the village. Also, the art and talent of making masks was believed to be passed in the family hence was considered a part of inheritance. On the other hand, the history of African art by Pablo Picasso dates back to the 19th century during the colonization of Africa especially the North and West coasts by France.
